The Prototype TX-150 Nightshrike-Class tank is a variation on the TX-130 Saber-Class, which saw action on the battlefront all throughout the Clone Wars. While similar in apperance, the Nightshrike has been outfitted with enhanced armor plating along with upgraded deflector shields, and also sees the advent of the use of the Beam cannon on the upper turret rather than dual laser cannons, a weapon which is also being included in all the newer TX 130 models being created. The other unique feature of the Nightshrike is the repulsorlift system, which has been given a complete overhaul. While originally designed only to provide the lift for the tank to traverse rough terrain, the repulsors now have a secondary purpose: Arial Insertion. Each Nightshrike is equipped with a small engine, similar to that of a starship, which has enough fuel to burn for just over 30 seconds. This burn creates propultion through the repulsorlift system, and is capable of slowing the descent of the tank to a speed where the normal repulsors can take over once the vehicle is within range of the ground. A safety system has also been installed, and in the event of a failed burn to slow descent, the vehicle will be surrounded in a highly shock-absorbant foam that will protect the crew and passengers. The tank also includes an additional 30 seconds of fuel to aid in rough descents, or to provide a momentary heighth boost useful for clearing gourges or walls, making the Nightshrike an extremely versatile vehicle in a battle situation.
