Critokians: Critokians were a species of two-meter-tall, arachnid sentients from the planet Critoki, although many dwelt in tribes on the moon Yavin 4. They used large claws to hunt prey on the jungle world, and several of their number eventually departed Yavin 4 and found work as bounty hunters. The Critokians' biological makeup featured a complex nervous system and six holes though which they could both communicate and breathe.

Dantari: The Dantari were a primitive species of near-Humans that lived on the planet of Dantooine.

Dugs: Dugs were an aggressive mammalian species native to the planet Malastare that used their upper limbs for locomotion and their lower limbs for grappling.

Duros: The Duros were a humanoid species native to the planet Duro who were among the galaxy's first space faring civilizations. Their homeworld was located on both the Corellian Trade Spine and at the end of the Duros Space Run, two major hyperspace routes that linked Duro with other important commercial centers.

Gamorreans: Gamorreans were porcine humanoids from the lush jungle Outer Rim planet of Gamorr where their technological level was equivalent to lower technology periods that Human civilizations experienced more than 25,000 years before the battle of Yavin. They also colonized the planet Pzob in the K749 system and were the majority sentient species on Lanthrym in the Elrood sector. Their vessels provided only essential amenities as well as shields and weapons. Gamorreans were typically green-skinned with a large powerful physique, and were known to be fierce warriors prized for their great strength and brutality in combat. They were organized into clans headed by a Council of Matrons. In Gamorrean society female sows perform all the productive work while the male boars concentrated on training for and fighting wars. They spoke Gamorrese (also called Gamorrean). One of their favorite weapons was a traditional war axe called an arg'garok that was forged specifically for beings of extraordinary strength and a low center of gravity.

Gerbs: The Gerb were a sentient lagomorph species native to the moon Yavin 13. Gerbs were covered in fur and had large pink ears and large black eyes. They lived in small underground warrens consisting of ten families. The Gerbs moved by hopping and jumping , and practiced simple farming on the few grasslands of the desert moon. Gerbs spoke the squeaking Gerbese language, though they could also speak the hissing Slithese language which was spoken by the moon's other sentient species, the serpentine Slith.

Humans: Humans were the galaxy's most numerous and politically dominant sentient species with millions of major and minor colonies galaxywide. Believed to have originated on the galactic capital of Coruscant, they could be found anywhere, engaged in many different pursuits: spacers, mercenaries, smugglers, merchants, soldiers, assassins, farmers, crime lords, laborers, slaves, slavers, and many others, including Jedi. Since Humans were the most common sentient species, they were often considered to be a standard or average to which the biology, psychology, and culture of other species were compared.

Hutts: The Hutts were a species of large gastropods with stubby arms, wide cavernous mouths and huge eyes, who controlled a large space empire in Hutt Space. The species was said to originally hail from the planet Varl, but no planet by that name appeared on any Imperial star charts. Their adopted homeworld was Nal Hutta. The members of the species were often recognized as crime lords.

Kumumgahs: The Kumumgah were a technologically-advanced race that lived on Tatooine who defied the Infinite Empire. The Rakata punished this by bombarding the surface of the once lush world of Tatooine into little more than fused glass. This eventually crumbled and became desert sand. The extreme climate change split the Kumumgah into two races: the Ghorfas (who evolved into the Sand People), and the Jawas.

Koorivars: The Koorivar were a species of humanoids with reptilian characteristics, including scales, reptilian skin that varied in many colors ranging from magenta to mauve and from dark green to black, and a gracile cranial horn that symbolized status in their society.

Lurmen: Lurmen (also known as Mygeetans) were a diminutive, pacifistic lemuroid species. They were native to the crystalline world of Mygeeto and also had a settlement on Maridun. The Lurmen were a lemuroid mammalian species, far smaller than a human. Their bodies were covered entirely in fur, which ranged in color from a dark brown to a white-gray, though they did wear garments. The Lurmen had heads protruding perpendicular from their chest, with two large golden orange eyes, a nose and a mouth. Each Lurmen had a tail, and they communicated through speech; Lurmen were able to speak Basic.

Melodies: Melodies were a humanoid water-based species native to Yavin 8. The species lived deep within the purple mountains of their homeworld, most notably Sistra Mountain.

Muun: Muuns were a thin, tall humanoid species from the mineral-rich planet of Muunilinst, which was also the headquarters of the InterGalactic Banking Clan, the largest banking organization in the galaxy. Muuns were known throughout the galaxy for their excellent financial and mathematical skills, and, seeking economic stability, the Empire exempted Muuns from their wide-spread non-human persecution, in order to utilize Muuns and their economic finesse.

Noghri: Noghri were a primitive humanoid species. They had steely gray or blue skin, and were extremely skilled assassins due to their abilities in stealth and hand-to-hand combat. Despite their small size, they were efficient killing machines, with claws, fangs, and a sense of smell so acute, they could smell one's bloodline (as exemplified by Khabarakh's identification of Leia Organa Solo as Darth Vader's daughter and heir). They were much like the Wookiee species culturally, in that they respected honor above all else. Noghri society was clan-based, revolving around the dukha, or community building, at the center of each village.

Rakata: The Rakata (also known as the Builders) were a humanoid species with distinctive amphibian features. They were a scientifically advanced race that developed early in galactic history, even developing some early hyperdrive technology. Long term use of the dark side of the Force corrupted their society and turned them into a race of merciless warriors. The Rakata used their potent Force-powered technologies to conquer and enslave every other species they came across throughout their known galaxy. During the reign of their Infinite Empire, they were characterized by their cruelty, savagery, and arrogance. They were known to strip entire planets of their resources, terraform worlds to fit their own shifting needs, kill entire slave workforces, and to eat and defile the bodies of slain enemies.

Selkath: The Selkath were a sentient aquatic species, native to the ocean-covered planet of Manaan. Since Manaan was the only naturally occurring source of kolto, the Selkath held great diplomatic sway during the Jedi Civil War. At that time, they held tightly to their neutrality; however, a few farsighted Selkath occasionally broke their neutrality in secret, and arranged deals to help their preferred side. Eventually, the kolto market disappeared and the galaxy abandoned the Selkath. It was not until the rise of the Galactic Empire that the Selkath would have interaction with the galaxy again. They were later conquered by the Galactic Empire.

Sliths: The Slith were a sentient, serpentine, species native to the moon Yavin 13. They were a nomadic species, living in patriarchal tribes of up to fifteen individuals. They had little civilization and no permanent structures. The Slith were venomous, preferring to paralyze their prey before eating them live. They communicated with each other via a rudimentary language consisting of noises produced by rubbing their scales on the ground. Slith had little contact with the wider galaxy, remaining largely undiscovered until the reign of the Galactic Empire. During the Yuuzhan Vong War, their moon was wiped of all life, leading to their extinction or did it.

Sith: The Sith, known alternatively as Red Sith or Sith Purebloods, were a species of red–skinned Humanoids that originated on the world of Dromund Kaas, who at some point adopted the barren planet Korriban as their epicenter before finally settling on the ice-world of Ziost. Also distinct for their bone spurs, facial tentacles, and genetic predispositions toward both left–handedness and the dark side of the Force, the Sith species coalesced into an empire ruled first by kings known as Sith'ari, and later by Dark Lords. Despite a society dominated by barbarism and infighting, Sith civilization culminated in a Golden Age, after which the species was all but scattered across the galaxy. An eponymous dark side tradition took the species' name, one that, despite numerous manifestations over time, maintained foundations borne of the customs, science and magic practiced by the ancient Sith species.

Wookiees: The Wookiees, whose name for themselves translated to the People of the Trees, were a species of hairy bipedal humanoids that were inhabitants of the planet Kashyyyk.

Zhells: The Zhell were a people indigenous to Coruscant and the possible ancestors of the Human inhabitants of the world. They consisted of thirteen nations known as the Battalions of Zhell.
