Warhead: 2 Seismic Charges with large Mineral Core

Mineral Core: Made from a rare, unusual and naturally occurring mineral found on Desphair. When subjected to a high dose of seismic energy the mineral destabilizes and turns into a very unstable liquid that reacts explosively with any metal is comes into contact with. The liquid reacts instantly with any metal and as long as there is the liquid and metal present it will continue to react, the prototype tested at Vernakus Prime recorded an explosion lasting for 15 minutes. Because it is developed for space use, it's explosive potential is drastically reduced, leaving it only capable of breaking capital ships in half in a quick explosion.

Vernakus Prime Incident: During the initial prototype test, the warhead was supposed to detonate on a ground based target but malfunctioned and detonated in the lower-mid atmosphere of Vernakus Prime, the resulting explosion combined with the atmospheric gases resulted in the destruction of the atmosphere which lead to the loss of all life on the planet leaving it barren and uninhabitable. Vernakus Prime was a small world, about the size of the average moon which was the greatest contributing factor to it's destruction, had the weapon detonated as planned the planets atmosphere would still be in tact and life would continue to exist on the planet.

But because of the incident the weapon was to be re-designed as a space based warhead for us against enemy Capital Ships. It's use as a planetary super weapon has been under much debate as the effects are theorized to become even more devastating on larger worlds due to larger amounts of metal and atmospheric gases. The Project is under threat of being shut down if unfavorable results are recorded from the second test of the prototype. This time the weapon will be used against a space based target away from the planet to prevent the chance of missing it's target.

Theorized Planetary Effects: If the weapon was used on a ground based target, dependent on the amount of metal in the area the blast could last for several minutes and as the liquid reacts it would release plasma bursts that could glass the surrounding area, the range is also dependent on how much metal is in the area. Plasma Bursts were recorded on Vernakus Prime but due to the atmospheric detonation the damage to the ground was minimal.

Cost Effectiveness: Because of the rarity of the mineral used (dubbed Evotanium) and the need for large seismic charges, developing the warhead is very costly which has also become a factor in the future testing of new prototypes.

OOC: If approved I plan on using this as a warhead used by the Nova when it shows up for space battles. I also plan on using it against a planet ONCE but the warhead would initially target a city or structure but it's target location would be changed at the last minute resulting in it landing a safe distance away from it's intended target but the area it hits would be glassed.
